I am a UK based author and speaker. I’ve produced a range of fiction from short story collections, through psychological thrillers to the uplifting women’s fiction that I currently write for Choc Lit, which is an imprint of Joffe Books. These books are sometimes classified as ‘later-in-life romances,’ but, for me, the romance is secondary to the story of a mature character dealing with the problems that life has a tendency to throw at us. I’ve also written non-fiction beginners’ guides about public speaking and publishing.
Membership & Awards
I am a member of the UK Romantic Novelists’ Association and was the winner of that organisation’s 2023 Elizabeth Goudge Award. I am part of the New Street Authors’ Collective, a group of writers with connections to Birmingham who help and support each other. I am also a member of the Society of Authors.
Speaking

I give talks on my books and writing in the Midlands area. In 2018 I reached the national finals of the Association of Speakers Clubs Speech Competition. If you would like me to visit your WI, U3A, library, festival or any other group or event, please drop me an email.
A Life in Words
Words are my lifeblood. I spent four years working for Birmingham Library Service and for eleven years ran a library-based book group, before stepping down to enjoy the sociability of that same group in a more relaxed way, as an ordinary member. I am also a trained Shared Reading group leader for the charity, The Reader — which brings people together to share a short story or a poem, along with a cup of tea and a chat.
Outside of my bookish world, I am a WI member and a church bell ringer. I also enjoy yoga, walking and swimming.
